A word from Lisa…

As a past competitive gymnast, softball, volleyball, and college basketball player, fitness has always been a part of my life. I first began training back in 2006 at a large gym. As much as I fell in love with helping clients physically and mentally, the large gym had some drawbacks, one major one being privacy. For some, the large gym provides energy and motivation which is awesome. However, for others, being in the middle of that environment can be intimidating, uncomfortable, or even bothersome for many reasons. I set up In Motion Fitness as a private facility because I wanted to provide clients with an environment where they could feel comfortable trying and improving themselves. An environment where the only person you compared yourself to was yourself from the day before.

I promote the mental aspect of training as well as the physical. Change starts with your mind. At In Motion Fitness, I want my clients to feel the beauty of balance and the security of strength, not the pressure of perfection. Your workout here is more than just a release of fat and toxins; it is a release of whatever might be weighing you down that day, robbing you of moments you deserve to enjoy. It is your time to be in your moment and focus on you, because you are worth your best health possible.

SO YOU OVERATE YESTERDAY?? HOW TO HANDLE A FOOD HANGOVER

So you overate yesterday.  For whatever reason, it doesn’t really matter.  Overeating happens and it looks different for everybody.  But, I’m sure you experienced at least one of these things… Maybe you slept terribly after it. Maybe you woke up super thirsty or with a bad taste in your mouth. Maybe you feel puffier than the Michelin Man.  Your joints might ache. Your rings might not fit.  The definition you saw in your abs yesterday morning may resemble more of a soft pillow today. And of course, if you were daring enough to weigh yourself, you may be up several pounds. And guess what?IT IS ALL OK.   IT IS ALL TEMPORARY. I have experienced ALL of this.  Whether you label it a binge, overeating, getting off track, or...

BIG NEWS AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU!

“The only thing constant is change.” As we approach the end of the month, I want to announce that In Motion’s time at its’ current location has come to an end. BUT HAVE NO FEAR. This is not goodbye!!! It’s just a move, around the corner, still in Orchard Park. Having outgrown our space and limiting our training options, we have decided to re-open our private personal training studio in a new space. Make no doubt about it, we will still be prioritizing our personal and private aspect, where your personal training is by appointment only and there are no members working out during your sessions. We will however, be expanding our group workout offering! Adding more classes beyond just bootcamps, to fully address a balanced approach to fitness....

SUPER EASY MEAL PREP – Turkey Meatball Surprise!

If you have 10 minutes to prep and 30 minutes to cook, you have meals and snack for a week! This is one of my go-to meals, with a little twist… Turkey Meatball Surprise! What’s the surprise? ? ? ? BROCCOLI.  I saw @daphneoz make these on @rachaelrayshow but since i can’t be bothered to follow recipes, I just chopped a head of broccoli and added it to my typical meatball recipe. SO…. look it up with them OR… Make your favorite meatball recipe and add in finely chopped or riced broccoli. Orrrrr roughly follow mine- 🥦 I don’t measure but my meatballs include: ✅Ground turkey – 3lbs ✅Some bread crumbs – maybe 1/2 cup? ✅Parmasan cheese – 1/2 cup and then some if you’re like me and love it ✅2 eggs (because it’s...

ONE OF MY TIPS FOR ATTAINING FOOD AND FITNESS BALANCE INSTEAD OF OBSESSION.

ONE OF MY TIPS FOR ATTAINING FOOD AND FITNESS BALANCE INSTEAD OF OBSESSION. ‼️NEWSFLASH. You cannot go full steam ahead everyday. You also will never eat perfectly everyday. How many of you feel like a failure if you’re workout isn’t “up to par?” How many of you struggle to do a lower intensity workout? To get the extra hour of sleep instead of a 4:30am workout? To take a rest day? To know a leisurely walk is ok as your only form of exercise for a day? To not throw in the towel after a “bad” meal? To not berate yourself for an indulgence? To not obsess over how to over correct and get back on track? You don’t have to fear losing your progress if you don’t go all out everyday and if you don’t eat “perfectly” everyday. What does that even mea...

IS THERE ROOM TO BE FIT AND A FOODIE IN THIS LIFE?

Is there room to be fit and be a foodie in this life?!? …On the contrary my friends. I think the ultimate fit person is one can eat fun foods sometimes and not have it derail them. Not have it consume them. Not have it make them instantly plot and plan how to make room for it, burn it off, or start a diet tomorrow while also, and most importantly not beating themselves up for it. I also think the socially defined “fit person” who allows none of these fun foods ever is not only a miserable bomb waiting to explode, but also one who doesn’t truly trust themselves or their body. This is my simple message for you today. Why do we have one definition of fit today? And why is it placed on a pedestal? Why is the fit person the ultra disciplin...

THE TROUBLE WITH LABELS – Diet Edition

THE TROUBLE WITH LABELS… Diet edition. Gone are the days my podcast feed consisted of weight loss, fad diets, the best workouts, and cleanses. When I defined myself by my eating habits and body type. I recently started to label myself an intuitive eater with a twist. I used to label myself a lot of things: a competitive gymnast. Anorexic. Bulky. Manly. A scholar athlete. A college basketball player. A compulsive exerciser. An overeater.  A binge eater. A yo-yo dieter. A yes-girl. A teacher. A divorcee. A personal trainer. A figure competitor. An entrepreneur.  But maybe most of all, a fraud. I was so lost. Full of knowledge, full of experience, yet more lost than ever. The problem with labels are that we literally live into them. They...

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE…

9:00 pm we started watching I CAN ONLY IMAGINE. Emotional AF. I was laying on my right side w my head on Dave and felt something toward my right side. I put my hand on it and questioned it a couple times. After not feeling it for a little bit, I sat up. I sat there bawling hard over the movie when he forgave his dad for his abusive childhood. When they made up. When he wrote in his journal- the dad I always wanted is finally here and he is leaving me–  I couldn’t stop crying. Dave too. The funeral. The memories. Sooo emotional. And then a kick. Clearly a kick. I put my hand on it and felt it again. And then I told Dave he’s kicking and he got to feel it! I went from so sad to soooo happy. Major butterflies. Emotions like when we found...

WHY DO YOU…?

WHY DO YOU… If you’re like me, you don’t really like to show your weaknesses. Who would?? Maybe you had a parent, coach or society teach you “no pain, no gain,” the mentality of always pushing through. Well I hate that saying. I hate that mentality. Life is hard enough, not everything calls for pushing through. And not pushing through doesn’t equate to failing. I woke up this morning envious. This happened many times lately actually. Envious of what?? RUNNERS. No, I am not a runner. However, I do enjoy going for a run sometimes. And now, I can’t. I mean, I could… I’m not injured, but I AM pregnant. And running was one of the first exercises that did not feel right to me as my pregnancy progressed. At first, I wanted to be super...
